Moving house is incredibly stressful. It’s a fact. This is to do with getting used to new surroundings, new sounds, new smells. It’s also incredibly time consuming. But it doesn’t always have to be. Along with using your expert Inner West removals company or wherever you are, I’ve also put together some life hacks for saving time during your next move.
Quick on the way in, and quick on the way out. Pretty easy to carry as well. This is also great to help with contactless moving if using a removalist for moving house during Covid-19 pandemic crisis. I have moved 15-20 times in my adult life, and only discovered this neat little trick for the last 2 moves. I used to get a box, take everything off the hangers, fold into the box, and then take the hangers separately. Never again.
I’m so glad I discovered this. If you Only mark the top, or the sides, then chances are when you stack them in the truck or your boot, you would have needed to mark the other side! This is also handy for when you’re carrying into your new home, forgetting which one you picked up between the car and the stairs, so your partner or someone else can have a look at the box for you quickly and remind you which room it belongs in! Alternatively, your removalists in Sydney’s Western Suburbs, or Northern Beaches or Sutherland Shire, might be more easily guided as to where each box needs to go at a glance.
This only applies if you’re taking your fridge with you of course, and it prevents the potential foul smell!
A simple, cheap and effective way to help your plates not break. Plus, it also doesn’t take up too much space either.
If you don’t want to have to keep opening and closing your front door, or reaching in pockets for keys when you are moving stuff, tie a band around one doorknob, then cross over making an “X” shape to the other doorknob, to block the lock clicking in if the door closes. Great time saver.
If tech isn’t really your forte, and once you had it all setup, you got scared of the mass of medusa hair-like cables emanating from the back of your TV, then I suggest taking a photo of the back of it before your expert, cheap removalists take it away to help you set it back up again at the other end.
Much like Life Hack 6 above, nothing is more infuriating in life than untangling a lump of cables. Simply by feeding them through toilet paper rolls beforehand could save you hours of tear-your-hair-out time in the new digs.
And that’s my 7 life hacks. I’m sure that if you follow these steps and your move is sure to be just that little bit less stressful and time consuming!
