Everyone seems to be winding down for the Christmas holidays. We are all looking forward to the long, lazy, relaxing days that we will be spending with family and friends.

What happens if you have to pack and move during this period? You might own a business and the Christmas/New Year period is the only time you can shut down your business and move without losing customers. You might have been transferred to another city, or you might be relocating your business to another city. The reality is that there are so many reasons why you might need to move over the festive season.

Most people are exhausted from the long year, and the last thing anyone feels like doing is having to pack and move. Unfortunately, we sometimes just have to get on with packing and moving, no matter how difficult it may seem.

Packing tips

Here are 5 packing tips to help you pack up all of your possessions with the minimum amount of stress and fuss:

  • Packaging materials and boxes

It’s important to make sure that you have enough packaging materials and boxes to pack up all your household/business furniture and other content. There is nothing worse than having to rush out to the shops to buy boxes, packing tape, and protective packing materials. You might not be able to buy more packing materials during the period as all of the packaging companies will more than likely be closed.

  • Industrial strength bubble wrap, newspaper, and blankets for delicate items

You will be amazed at how much fragile furniture and other possession you own. To protect these items from damage and breakage during our move, make sure you wrap the smaller items in bubble wrap or newspaper before you pack them in a box. Cover your delicate furniture with blankets and bubble wrap. Secure the blankets etc. around the furniture; thus, making sure that it can’t be scratched, damaged, or broken during the move.

  • Wrap individual items separately

As tempting as it may seem, it is not a good idea to wrap more than one item in the same protective wrapping. It’s important to wrap and pack each item individually; otherwise, you run the risk that these items will be damaged or broken during the move.

  • Secure computer hardware

Before you start packing up all of your computers and related peripherals, make sure that you have backed up all of your data; thus, if anything should happen to your computer equipment during the move, you will have up-to-date copies of your data. Once this has been completed, make sure that all of the components such as hard drives are secured inside the PC tower before you pack them up. Finally, wrap all your towers and related peripheral items in bubble wrap before you pack them into boxes.

  • Pack your hanging clothes into wardrobe boxes

A wardrobe box is the largest standard box that you can buy/hire. It is a long box and is constructed with a metal hanging bar at the top of the box. This box is designed to transport all of your hanging clothes without removing them from their hangers; thus, allowing you to pack and unpack your clothing easily and quickly.

Final words

About The Author

Bill Chen

Before 2008, Bill was working with a local removalist company in Sydney and was witness for a number of deformities and wrongs in the working of the company. Observing the atmosphere, a thought came to Bill’s mind that he could do much better if he were the owner of the company, by offering a fully transparent service to the clients with a friendly and trustworthy staff and no hidden fee structure; and thus, in 2008, AAA Bill Removalists Sydney was formed with just one truck and only Bill as staff. Even if Bill Chen began the company as just one man, the company grew fast. The operation expanded beyond the Sydney suburbs and to the surrounding cities: Wollongong, Wagga Wagga, Albury, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour, Canberra, Newcastle, Melbourne, Brisbane, and other.
