Are you about to move into a share house in the Inner West? There are a lot of things for you to consider when you do like consulting your trusted removalists Inner West. Some questions that we hear a lot are: What furniture should I bring? What time and day should I move?

We answer those questions and give some other helpful tips brought to you by removalists in Sydney:

Try to Schedule Your Move at a Good Time For Everyone

Moving into a share house has a number of factors to juggle. Typically, you will be moving in where people already live and have gotten used to the way the house operates and where things live in shared spaces. My suggestion is to ask your new housemates what time and day suits them best for a move-in. For example, it may make sense to do it on a day when everyone is at work so that housemates aren’t trying to get ready for work or trying to cook in the kitchen. It will keep your moving day fun and positive, and this is a great way to start!

Work Out What They Already Have in the House, and What You Can Bring With You

This might seem a little on the obvious side to say, but when you move into a share house, your bedroom is your own but everything else is shared. Particularly when it comes to the kitchen and living rooms, check what is already there. If it’s an established sharehouse, there will most likely be a TV already, sofas, cutlery, and cookeries like pots and pans, etc. You won’t need to bring all into the house or the shared spaces! Have the conversation before moving in and you might find that your sofa might be seen as an upgrade to the existing one, or it could be sold online or donated to a worthy cause.

Plan Which Rooms Everyone Will Have Before Move Day

This is only going to apply in situations where you’re all moving house at once, as opposed to just you moving into an already established share house. In this situation, it really helps when you have worked out not just who moves into what room, but also the finer details like who gets what drawer in the kitchen/ bathroom, etc. Take it from us, by agreeing on the pre-move day, you will save yourself a MASSIVE headache down the line.

Find out People’s Dietary Preferences/ Allergies First!

Sharing a house and a kitchen is no easy thing. There are many people out there with dangerous food allergies or with preferences to not be around meat cooking (or use pans that have had meat cooked in them). This is something that we recommend you endeavour to find out ASAP. For a few reasons. Firstly, it’s a great courtesy to show your new housemates. Secondly, they will really appreciate you taking the time to find this out or at least ask, even if they have known.

So there you go, a few tips from us to you aid you in your move into a share house in the Inner West. Follow these tips to help set you up for a great time living with great housemates (at least until they play their music too loud)..!

About The Author

Bill Chen

Before 2008, Bill was working with a local removalist company in Sydney and was witness for a number of deformities and wrongs in the working of the company. Observing the atmosphere, a thought came to Bill’s mind that he could do much better if he were the owner of the company, by offering a fully transparent service to the clients with a friendly and trustworthy staff and no hidden fee structure; and thus, in 2008, AAA Bill Removalists Sydney was formed with just one truck and only Bill as staff. Even if Bill Chen began the company as just one man, the company grew fast. The operation expanded beyond the Sydney suburbs and to the surrounding cities: Wollongong, Wagga Wagga, Albury, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour, Canberra, Newcastle, Melbourne, Brisbane, and other.
