So you’ve found yourself the perfect new home. You’ve got everything set up, days off from work, babysitters for the kids, and you’ve booked Bill Removalists Sydney for your move. However, the actual move and logistics are causing you serious stress. Don’t worry, we are here to debunk some of the biggest myths in moving!

Myth 1: You Have to Move All in One Go

Many people are under the illusion that you need to move in one trip, or at worst, one day. Whilst this is true in many cases for many people (especially if under monetary, or time constraints), if you are in a position to plan it right, you can take a few days. My most successful moves have always come when I have been able to spread out the move across a few days. Of course, you book your friendly Baulkham Hills removals (or wherever you are) in one day only to move the bulky stuff, but then take your time with other things like some boxes and odd bits and pieces. Rather than making a move drag on, this relieves some of your stress like spreading butter over toast.

Verdict: FALSE

Myth 2: You Don’t Need to Label Boxes

Sometimes, you may forget to label your boxes, or you may think that you’ll remember where they go. This might fly in a one-bedroom apartment, but it won’t in a 2 bedroom or more place. If you have booked efficient removalists in Sydney North Shore and Eastern Suburbs, you will want to have labelled them as they will be able to take them to the correct room even without your supervision. It’s true that not labelling your boxes isn’t the end of the world, it does make your life immeasurably simpler to do so.

Verdict: Mostly FALSE.

Myth 3: Moving Should Only Be Done on a Friday

Right, this one has come about from people wanting to only have to take a single day off, and then have the weekend to move. It’s also very common for real estate agencies to only allow lease signings on Fridays or for solicitors to ensure that settlement happens on Fridays (often as late as 2 pm or even 4 pm). However, just because this is when you can pick up keys, doesn’t always mean this is when you should move. And if you can have a say in the matter, I recommend moving on a Tuesday. Statistically, it tends to be the quietest moving day, meaning rates will be lower and your removalist may be able to take even more time for you. Bite the bullet with time off work – my suggestion is taking Tuesday and Wednesday off, getting the bulk done before going back to work for a couple of days and then having the weekend to finish off the rest.

Verdict: FALSE

Myth 4: Any Removalists Will Do

Many people think that all removalists do the same thing. However, if you follow our blog, you will know this to not be true. Some removalists will offer insurance, some will provide boxes and packing paraphernalia, some will charge by the hour, others will offer a package price, some will be professional and courteous, others will be gruff and to the point, some offer advice such as tips on moving with your dog, some just pitch up with their truck and go and the list can go on. Frankly, I’m not sure this is even a myth worth debunking, we’ve already debunked it so many times. But comparing removalists can sometimes be akin to comparing chalk with cheese.

Verdict: FALSE.

There you have it, we hope these tips will be helpful for your next moving home endeavour, and as always, remember to stay safe!

About The Author

Bill Chen

Before 2008, Bill was working with a local removalist company in Sydney and was witness for a number of deformities and wrongs in the working of the company. Observing the atmosphere, a thought came to Bill’s mind that he could do much better if he were the owner of the company, by offering a fully transparent service to the clients with a friendly and trustworthy staff and no hidden fee structure; and thus, in 2008, AAA Bill Removalists Sydney was formed with just one truck and only Bill as staff. Even if Bill Chen began the company as just one man, the company grew fast. The operation expanded beyond the Sydney suburbs and to the surrounding cities: Wollongong, Wagga Wagga, Albury, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour, Canberra, Newcastle, Melbourne, Brisbane, and other.
