For a flawless packing and eventually smooth moving, out of collecting boxes, you need some more things too.

1. Paper

As soon as it is confirmed that you will be moving, start collecting paper that comes along when you buy crockery, purses and other items. You can also collect paper bags that come with eatables. These will help you to protect your delicate items made of glass, fine wires, etc, china and electronic items. Also they will be useful to fill empty spaces left after you pack things in boxes and you don’t want to prevent things from rattling around. Just be careful not to preserve paper bags that have caught oil or other food remnants, because they can attract ants or other pests.

2. Bubble Wrap

Bubble wraps are extremely useful to pack delicate glass items, china and electronics. So, you should keep them handy. If you get them along with something, you should preserve them (but don’t pop them during your leisure hours; you can do that after your removal) or you can buy them.

3. Foam or Sponge

Though paper and bubble wrap can protect your delicate items, some items can be best protected with foam or sponge, e.g. curios, statues, lamps, laptops, etc. Foam or sponge has less chance of getting torn with sharp edges or glass items and fine wires of curios and so can protect them the best.

4. Stretch Wrap

Plastic stretch wraps will protect your large items from the elements. Therefore shop for them, before you start packing. You can wrap them around furniture, beds and other bulky items and they will protect them from dust, water and dirt.

They can also be used for another purpose. They are sticky and so, you can pack together strangely shaped items with them to create a manageable cubical shape.

5. Labels

Labels are extremely essential to help you unpack your things without difficulty after you reach your new home. Without fail, use labels on every box with the contents of the box written on them, so that you can find exactly the box which contains things you need first after travel.

6. Permanent Markers

As you have labels, you will also need permanent markers to write on them. Markers can also work as a substitute for labels as you can write directly on the removal boxes and packaging with them as they don’t get pierced in the boxes, unlike your common micro-tipped pens.

7. Scissors

Scissors should be mentioned as anyone can forget them. They are extremely useful for cutting tapes, wraps and labels. And as such, they can be used to open the packed boxes if you want to take something out urgently.

8. Boxes

Though you might consider that boxes are obviously the packing supplies you will have, they should be mentioned, because they will play a major role in packing. So, either collect whatever boxes (strong and big ones) you get and preserve them or buy them or both. Boxes can be of various sizes and while one box may be used to pack a single item, another box may contain multiple things.

9. Tape & Box Cutters

As you will be placing your valuables in boxes, you cannot keep them open, so, you will need tape to shut the boxes properly. Plus you will also need box cutters to open them after you reach your new home.

10. Sealable Plastic Bags

These are extremely useful for keeping your small essentials, like medicines, handkerchiefs, and small hardware items like screws, nail cutters, pens, pencils, shaving and makeup kits, etc together. But don’t gorge them so much that their seals will open and contents will spill out.

About The Author

Bill Chen

Before 2008, Bill was working with a local removalist company in Sydney and was witness for a number of deformities and wrongs in the working of the company. Observing the atmosphere, a thought came to Bill’s mind that he could do much better if he were the owner of the company, by offering a fully transparent service to the clients with a friendly and trustworthy staff and no hidden fee structure; and thus, in 2008, AAA Bill Removalists Sydney was formed with just one truck and only Bill as staff. Even if Bill Chen began the company as just one man, the company grew fast. The operation expanded beyond the Sydney suburbs and to the surrounding cities: Wollongong, Wagga Wagga, Albury, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour, Canberra, Newcastle, Melbourne, Brisbane, and other.
